Delete your Strata9 account
This page explains how to ask us to delete your Strata9 account and the data held with it, what gets deleted, what we have to keep, and how long it takes. It applies to both the Strata9 website and the Strata9 mobile app.
How to request deletion
- Email us from the address on your account Write to the address below from the email address you signed up with. Sending it from that address is how we confirm the request is yours.
- Put "Delete my account" in the subject You do not need to give a reason. If you would rather delete only part of your data and keep your account, say which part instead.
- We confirm before anything is deleted We reply to that same address to confirm the request. If any of your listings are live, we tell you first, because deleting the account closes them.
- Deletion is completed within 30 days Usually much sooner. We email you when it is done.
The button opens your email app with the request written for you. Send it as it is, or edit it first. If you cannot email from the address on the account, write from any address and we will verify your identity another way before deleting anything.
What is deleted
- Your account and profile, including your name, email address, phone number and company if you gave them.
- Everything you saved: watched wells and counties, private notes, custom pins, saved views and any county you pinned for offline use.
- Your claims on wells and any ownership evidence you uploaded to support them.
- Your listings, including photographs and documents you attached. Live listings are removed from the marketplace.
- Your messages to and from other users through the platform.
- Your directory profile, if you are listed as a professional, including your photo, logo and coverage area.
What we keep, and why
- Records of completed payments. Where you have paid a fee, we keep the transaction record for as long as tax and accounting law requires. This is handled by our payment processor and is not linked to a deleted profile.
- Identity verification results. Where a verification was completed, we keep the fact that it passed and the date, because it is what allowed a listing to be published. The identity documents themselves are held by our verification provider, not by Strata9.
- The public record. Well, permit, production, pipeline and disposal data comes from public agency filings. It is not about you, it was never yours, and it is not affected by deleting your account.
Deleting some data without closing your account
You can. Email the same address and tell us what you want removed. You can also remove most of it yourself while signed in: unwatch wells and counties, delete notes and pins, and close or unpublish a listing from your account page.
Backups
Deleted data is removed from our live systems straight away and disappears from encrypted backups within 90 days as those backups age out. Backups are not used to restore a deleted account.
