Strata9 Android App Now on Google Play Puts a Free Oil and Gas Well Map in Your Pocket

Strata9 Inc. of Houston has released its Android app on Google Play, bringing a free map of more than five million oil and gas wells of record, disposal wells and listings to phones.
Strata9 Inc., the Houston, Texas company behind Strata9 Exchange, the Zillow of the Subsurface, released Strata9 for Android on Google Play on October 21, 2026. The app, listed by developer Strata9 Inc. in the Business category, brings the Strata9 well map to Android phones. Its Google Play listing sums it up in one line: "The Strata9 map in your pocket."
Strata9 is available free to the public. It maps more than five million oil and gas wells of record across 33 U.S. states, six Canadian provinces and territories, and the Gulf of America, and it runs a marketplace where operators and brokers list assets for sale or lease. Standard listings are free and carry no commission.
What the Strata9 Android app does
The listing opens with "Strata9 puts the subsurface on a map you can carry." It states: "Open the app and it lands where you are. Every well of record around you is on the map: producing, shut in, plugged, permitted."
From there, the listing says users can "Tap one for the record, the production history, the depth, and a Strata9 estimate for active wells." The app also lets users "Search by county, town, operator, lease or API number."
Disposal and injection wells on the Water map
The app covers more than oil and gas wells. According to the listing, "Switch to Water and the same map shows the disposal and injection wells, colored by how full each one is, with permitted capacity, reported injection and the injection interval on the card."
Finding oil and gas listings on Android
The app also carries the Strata9 marketplace. The listing states: "Market shows what is listed where you are looking, for sale, for lease and disposal capacity, with the broker or company behind each listing." Listings are created on strata9.exchange, and in the words of the listing, "the app is where buyers find them."
Accounts work across devices. "Save wells to your account and they are there on the desktop too," the listing says.
Who the Strata9 app is for
The listing describes Strata9 as "the subsurface exchange for mineral owners, landmen, operators and brokers." Its short description reads: "Find wells, disposal and listings on the move."
A word from the founder
"I'm excited to have the Strata9 Android app in the pockets of millions of people who would like to know if there's oil beneath their feet," said William Cormier, founder and CEO of Strata9.
